Somewhere Out There

Chapter two

The next day, Danny finished packing and was ready to go back to Earth to visit Alison and Binx.

Her long brown hair was braided in a bun pinned to her head, and she wore a short sleeved shirt and blue skirt with boots. A strand of soft, silky brown hair sat nicely on her cheek, nice and lose.

She picked her bag up after packing her clothes, including her Jedi uniform and some of her jewelry, and walked out of her room and down the hall which was where Han and Leia's quarters were. She would be using a big, long mirror to step through after saying the incantation that would allow her to do so and go back to Earth. When she came out, she would be in the house Alison and Binx lived in.

A year after Max died, her parents, whom she found out were her foster parents, were killed in a car crash, so they lived in the house that Danny had lived in on Earth.

When Danny was eleven, she was captured by the witches who had been brought back by an evil man named Rothbart and brought to the dimension between Earth and the other galaxy. There was a princess who was also being held prisoner named Odette. After they escaped, Danny was named a princess, and was given the power to use the mirror to go between worlds, although she was already a princess by birth but didn't know it.

She walked into the living room where she saw Han Solo, the man who went from being a space pirate to Rebel Hero and father of Princess Leia's five and four year old children. The five year olds were twins, a boy and girl named Jaina and Jacen. The four year old was named Anikan. Being her little cousins, sometimes Danny helped baby sit them.

Sitting on the couch already were Luke and Leia. Han had already brought out the mirror she'd be using, and was standing behind Leia, rubbing her shoulders.

The three children looked up from the toys they were playing with to see Danny standing there and smiled. They got up and ran toward her, nearly knocking her down, and hugged her.

Danny laughed, hugging them back, "I'm glad someone's glad to see me," She said.

Jaina looked up at her cousin with her brandy-brown eyes, "Are you here to baby-sit us, Danny?"

Danny laughed, "No, I'm going to visit my friends Alison and Binx. But when I get back, I'll come over and play with you, all right?"

The little girl nodded and the children went back to play with their toys. Danny walked toward her older cousins.

"Do you have your light saber and Jedi uniform?" Luke asked.

"Yes, Luke. They're all packed in my bag. I'm not sure Alison and Binx would recognize me wearing a Jedi uniform and a light saber on my belt," Danny answered, grinning.

Luke chuckled as Leia stood up to give her cousin a hug.

Danny hugged back then let go, taking a breath. She turned and looked at the mirror, saying the incantation:

Star light

Star bright

Bring me to my heart's delight

Far away is a place I once called

Home. Bring me back but not for

Good as there are more adventures

Left unstood.

The mirror lit up and a portal opened. Danny turned and looked at her friends and waved, then stepped in.

She found herself in her old room seconds later. Smiling, she ran out of the room and down the stairs to go into the kitchen, calling, "Alison, Binx, I'm home!"

When she got into the kitchen, she saw storm troopers there and the three witches, Sara, Mary, and Winnefred. She let out a startled cry as the troopers went over to her and grabbed her arms.

"What are you doing here? Where are Alison and Binx?" She asked.."

"Oh, they're around. Somewhere. We've come to bring our master a surprise, and you're the surprise," Winnefred answered. She looked to the storm troopers, "We'll take her to Lord Palpatine's castle and until he's ready for her, lock her in the dungeon. When you've done that, you know what to do." She sneered evilly and looked toward Danny.

Danny tried to get the troopers to let go of her, "Help! Alison, Binx, help!" She yelled.."

"Shut up!" Winnefred sneered.

Mary brought Winnefred's spell book over to her as one of the storm troopers who weren't holding onto Danny tied a handkerchief around her mouth to keep her from talking. Winnefred opened the book up and started to chant something:

Rotika enu

Rotika enu es palace

Es du mi rotika rotika!

Suddenly the group was transported, along with Alison and Binx, who were down in the basement. Alison was tied up to a chair and Binx was in a bag.

Danny found herself in the main hall of what looked to be a castle, still being held onto by the storm troopers. She looked around, and tried to get them to let go still as they brought her to a door in the main hall that went down to the dungeon. She finally did get them to let go, and she ran toward the front door, but one of the troopers took his blaster from his belt and shot a large net out at her, catching her.

"Agghh!" She screamed as she was brought down to the floor. They went over to her and unwrapped her from the net as one trooper went to get something. When he came back, he was holding chains in his hands. Two troopers held Danny still as the trooper put the chains on her wrists, neck, waist, and ankles. When he was done, the troopers lifted her up in the air, holding onto her and the chains and brought her back toward the stairs to go to the dungeon.

"Let me go! Put me down!" She yelled, her voice muffled from the handkerchief. Soon she disappeared into the dungeon.

When she was in the dungeon, they brought her to a wall that had shackles on it already. They ripped her backpack off of her to take up to Lord Palpatine before they pushed her up against the wall and held her there as they took the chains already on her off one by one and put the shackles on the wall on her. Then they left, leaving her in darkness.

In the throne room, the three witches kneeled in front of the Sith Lord, Serra Palpatine, the twin brother of Emperor Palpatine. Standing next to his throne was a woman with long black hair wearing a black robe who looked to be about thirty-five. She was Madussa, Serra's adoptive niece and a Sith Empress.

Serra looked down at the three witches, an evil grin on his face.

"Did you get the Princess?" He asked.

"Yes. She's down in the dungeon as we speak. And the other girl and cat are in the tower. The storm troopers are setting up for interrogation as well, my lord," Winnefred answered.

The Sith Lord leaned back in the throne, "Good. Soon the Skywalker Princess will be one of the most powerful Sith in the galaxy, and the galaxy will fall at out feet." He laughed evilly.

The three witches stood up and cackled evilly with him.

Danny looked up as two storm troopers came down the stairs of the dungeon and over to her. They held the chains from earlier in their hands, and as they unshackled Danny, they put the chains back on her wrists, neck, waist, and ankles. They the brought her upstairs.

They brought her to the throne room where machines and gadgets were set up for her interrogation. She swallowed as she was brought toward the throne where Serra sat, the three witches and Madussa by his side. The troopers let go of her and walks back over to the machines to get them ready. Before one of the troopers let go of her, he clipped the other ends of the chains on her ankles to a small round, silver circle so she wouldn't move.

Danny looked up at Serra as he said, "Welcome, young Princess. I hope you'll. . . Enjoy your stay here. Perhaps we won't have to put you through so much pain and you'll give in. The weak ones always do. But from what Winnefred tells me, you're not weak at all. In fact, you're very powerful. If you join us, you'll be even more powerful. Perhaps you could even bring your brother back to life."

Danny's blue eyes blinked as she heard him say this. "My. . . My brother? I could bring him back?"

Serra nodded, "But only if you'll join us."

Danny thought about what it would be like to have him back. . . But quickly shook her head, terminating the thought, knowing that she'd betray everything her brother had died for, and all that she believed in. Plus she would betray Max and Luke and Leia. "No. I'll never join you. You're a liar. I couldn't bring Max back. I'll never join you!"

Serra smirked evilly, "Then you will suffer, and I hope you enjoy every minute of it. Guards," He said, looking to the troopers who were waiting.

They walked over to her and unlocked the chains from the ring on the floor. They then brought her to a chair that had straps on the arms, two front legs, the part where her back would go, and on the seat of her chair. They pushed her into the chair and began strapping her down. There was a strap to put on her forehead which was attached to the chair, a strap for each arm, straps for her legs on the legs of the chairs, above her knees that came from the seat of the chair, and one that was for her waist. As they strapped her into the chair, she struggled to get them lose.

As this happened, Winnefred and Serra walked toward Danny, and she glared at them as she was strapped in.

One storm trooper came over to her rolling a cart with a needle sitting on it. She glanced up to Serra, and she saw the smirk on his face.

The storm trooper picked the needle up and jabbed it into Danny's right arm. Danny let out a loud scream from the pain and liquid was injected into her arm as she did so.

As the liquid that was used as a truth drug began to take it's affect, Danny's vision got blurry. She looked over by Serra's throne and she thought she saw Max.

"Max. . ." She whispered. She groaned a little.

"Your brother can be here, Princess, but only if you tell us what your cousin Luke Skywalker is planning in order to bring the Jedi back," Serra said.

"Bring. . . Jedi back. . ." Danny said. She shook her head, trying to make her vision clearer, "He'll train the Jedi and then bring them here to kill you!" She said, glaring. She felt anger in herself, but it slowly went back down, and she calmed herself more. She couldn't let Serra or Winnefred know that she was angry, although she wasn't too angry.

Serra just looked at her before walking closer to her, his face practically up close, "And you'll regret ever saying that." He took a dagger that was up his sleeve and stuck it into Danny's right kneecap.

"Ah!" Danny yelled in pain.

Before taking the dagger out, he twisted it in her knee before pulling it out.

"AH!!!!!!" Danny yelled. Blood slowly pored out of her knee.

Serra stood back, looking at her. He glanced at the guards and said, "Bring her friends down. Bandage her knee up. Maybe seeing her friends here will convince her to corporate."

Two guards walked over to her and unstrapped Danny's wounded knee from the chair and started wrapping it with a white cloth. The rest of the guards disappeared upstairs to the tower where Alison and Binx were being kept.

A few minutes later, the guards came in holding onto Alison, who's hands were hand coughed behind her back. One storm trooper was holding the cage Binx was in.

Alison looked over to Danny, "Danny!"

Danny looked up at her, "Alison!"

Suddenly blaster shots were heard outside the throne room and Danny looked up to see Luke, Leia, Han, and Han's co-pilot Chewbacca. Storm troopers ran at them but soon fell to the floor after being blasted.

Danny looked back to see Winnefred, her sisters, Serra, and Madussa gone. Luke ran over to her and started finishing unstrapping her.

As Luke did that, Leia went over to help Alison and Binx.

"Luke. How'd you know I was here?" Danny asked.

"I felt a disturbance and we came to find you. The witches left a note and we were able to follow," Luke answered as he finished unstrapping her. When he was done, he leaned down to put her arm over his shoulder to help her stand up. He looked toward Han, "Hey, Han, come help me get Danny up."

Han walked over to them and went to Danny's other side to do the same as Luke, but hearing the Jedi Master's words, Chewie curiously turned his head and walked over to them and said something to Han. The Wookie picked Danny up in his arms and Luke and Han stood back up.

Danny looked at Han, "What'd he say, Han?" She asked weakly.

"He said he could just carry you and it'd be easier, Kiddo," Han said.

Danny gave a weak smile, "Thanks. . . Chewie. . ."

The Wookie grumbled something back.

Leia, Alison, and Binx came over after Leia finished un-hand coughing Alison and taking Binx out of the cage.

Alison looked down at Danny then up at Luke, "Is she going to be okay?"

"Yes. We've got to get to a Med. Wing back home, but I'll do what I can for her now," Luke answered.

"Let's get her back home then," Leia said.

Luke. . .backpack with saber. . . By Serra's throne. . . Luke heard Danny's voice say through the Force. Danny then fell into unconsciousness, too weak from the loss of blood.

He looked around and saw the backpack and went over to get it, then followed the rest of the group.

A few hours later, Danny woke up to find herself laying in a hospital bed. She saw Luke asleep in a chair next to the bed and some machines that she was hooked up to.

She grumbled and said, "Luke?"

Luke's blue eyes opened immediately and saw she was awake. A smile came to his face, "Hey." He stood up and opened the door and said, "Leia, Han, she's awake," then came back into the room and sat back down.

Leia, Alison, and Binx all walked in while Han went to get an M.D. droid to run tests and a doctor.

Alison looked at Danny and smiled at her, sitting in a chair on the other side of the bed.

Danny turned her head to look back at her, "Alison. . .Sorry couldn't help. . .You. . ."

"Shhh, Danny. You need your rest. Don't talk. The doctor will be here in a minute," Alison said.

Danny turned her head back and closed her eyes, "Great, more poking and prodding. What's next, an operation?"

Luke looked up at Alison and Leia, then looked at Danny. He sat up in his chair, looking at her, "Yes, but it'll only be a few hours long and then you`ll be as good as new. Serra banged your knee up pretty good."

Danny sighed, closing her eyes, "Great. Just what I need."

Just then, Han came in with a Med. droid and a doctor following behind him. The droid was silver and had a head that looked like an out-stretched circle. The doctor was a Mon Calamari who had brown skin and webbed hands.

The droid walked over to one side of the bed and pulled the blankets back to reveal Danny's banged up knee which was covered in bandages.

"Hello, Ms.Skywalker. How's your knee feeling?" The Dr. asked.

Danny opened her eyes to look at the Mon Calamari, "Like a thousand knives have been stabbed right into it, but other then that, it feels almost fine. I take it it'd hurt if I tried to move it."

The doctor nodded, "Yes. We're prepping a room for surgery and then we'll be back to get you and prep you. The operation will take a good few hours."

Danny nodded, "Thank you, doctor."

She watched as the doctor walked out and the droid wrapped something around her arm and sighed, waiting for him to finish. When he did, he left.

Binx jumped up on the bed and stood on Danny's stomach, purring. He went toward her face and nuzzled his head against it and said, "I'm glad you're okay, Danny. Your knee will be fine."

Danny nuzzled back, closing her eyes. She had forgotten what it had been like to have a talking cat for a friend since she had gone to live with Luke and Leia. She opened them again and looked down at him, "I'm sorry I couldn't have helped you, Binx. I was so stupid. . ." She closed her eyes for a short minute, "I should have known they had you there and would have tortured you if they had the chance to. Just like I should have been able to save Max from dying for me."

Alison shook her head, putting her hand on Danny's arm, "Danny, it's not your fault we were captured, and it's not your fault Max died. He died to save you. He wouldn't want you to think you have to live with that burden, and no one else wants you to. When the witches came, we had no way to stop them from taking us. We were outnumbered, and even if you had been there, the odds of us escaping before they could take us wouldn't be too great."

Danny nodded, her blue eyes solemn. They seemed to stare right out into space, "Maybe so, but that doesn't make me any less angry for not being able to help you."

Before anyone else could say anything, the doctor came back in with the Med. droid. Binx licked Danny's cheek before jumping off the bed and into Alison's lap.

"We'll be here when you wake up, Danny, and then we'll be able to go home," Luke said.

Danny nodded, and the droid and doctor pushed the bed toward the door and down the hallway.

As Danny lied in the bed after a shot was given to her to put her to sleep, she closed her eyes, feeling tired all of a sudden.

She found herself in a beautiful place within her dream. There was a hill, and it looked as if she were in a large meadow. There was a forest, and a few cabins. Straight ahead from where she stood was the top of a waterfall. She closed her eyes for a moment, feeling as though she knew this place somehow, but she wasn't sure how or why.

She opened them again and saw herself in the graveyard where Max was killed. She looked around and saw it was dark out, and the memories flashed through her head:

A boy looking to be about 18 years old with brown hair and blue eyes wearing a blue CHAMPION sweatshirt stood in the graveyard , trying to do everything he could to save his sister. A blue orra surrounded his body.

Who can say for certain
Maybe you're still here
I feel you all around me
Your memories so clear

"Danny. . ." She heard his voice say.

She walked toward him, and saw her brother there. Was it an illusion? No. It was Max, but in her dream.

"Max? Is that you?" She asked.

"Yes, Danny. It's me. . ." He answered. He put his hand toward her heart, looking toward her eyes, "I'll always be with you, Danny. I'll always be watching you, I promise. I love you."

Danny blinked and she found herself starting to cry, "I love you, too, Max."

Max started to fade, and more tears rolled down her cheeks. "Max, don't go. . . Please. . ." She whispered.

Deep in the stillness
I can hear you speak
You're still an inspiration

Can it be
That you are mine
Forever love
And you are watching over me from up Above

Danny watched as he started to disappear, and she closed her eyes. She opened them again, and she found herself in her room, watching out the window and looking up at a star. She blinked as she saw Max's image outside the window, a smile on his face. She reached her hand out and touched the image, and it faded.

Fly me up to where you are
Beyond the distant star
I wish upon tonight
To see you smile
If only for awhile to know you're There. A breath away's not far
To where you are

She then laid back in the bed, falling asleep within the dream.

Are you gently sleeping
Here inside my dream
And isn't faith believing
All power can't be seen

She opened her eyes again and found herself in the gymnasium of her school on Earth, holding a basketball in her hands. She stood at the foul line, and she looked around at the audience, who were silent. Max had taught her everything she knew about basketball, but rarely played on a team, especially now.

As my heart holds you
Just one beat away
I cherish all you gave me everyday
'Cause you are mine
Forever love
Watching me from up above

She looked back at the basket and bent her knees, then pushed her arms out, throwing the ball toward the net. She watched as it hit the rim and fell into the basket, making the white net swoosh.

And I believe
That angels breathe
And that love will live on and never Leave

Suddenly she saw all of these things in flashbacks. She went from the basketball game to her bed room, to the graveyard, and finally back to the place with the waterfall.

Fly me up
To where you are
Beyond the distant star
I wish upon tonight
To see you smile
If only for awhile
To know you're there
I know you're there
A breath away's not far

To where you are

A breath away's not far
To where you are

"Danny. Danny, wake up," She heard a voice say.

Her eyes opened, and she found herself laying in the hospital bed, looking up at Alison, Luke, Han, and Leia's faces. She sat up a little, and winced as she felt pain go up her leg. She could feel the cloth it was wrapped in and it felt as if her leg were suddenly 50 pounds added onto her own weight.

"Luke? I. . .I saw Max. . ." She looked around as if hoping to see him there.

Luke smiled sadly at his cousin, "No, Danny. He's not here. It was just a dream. Come on, we can take you home now, and you can tell me all about it."

Danny nodded, and Luke and Han helped her stand up, letting her use their shoulders for arm rests. The group then went back toward Luke's quarters, and laid her down on the couch when they got there.
